Alongside my professional work as a counsellor and clinical supervisor, I have lived experience of grooming, rape, and sexual abuse during my teenage years, including institutional sexual abuse connected to Harrods and the then owner of the company, when I was 16 years old.
I share this aspect of my story selectively and thoughtfully, and only where it is appropriate to do so. My intention in speaking publicly is not to revisit or sensationalise trauma, but to contribute to understanding, accountability, and survivor-informed change.
Any public discussion is approached with care, clarity, and strong ethical boundaries.
My advocacy and media work sits alongside — and separate from — my therapeutic practice.
It is shaped by both lived experience and professional responsibility, and is undertaken with careful consideration of safeguarding, consent, and impact.

When speaking from lived experience in relation to the sexual abuse connected to Harrods, my focus is on:
the impact of institutional abuse on identity, safety, and long-term psychological wellbeing
how power, status, and organisational systems can enable harm and silence survivors
the experience of disclosure, disbelief, and delayed recognition
the long-term effects of trauma, including shame, dissociation, anxiety, and hypervigilance
recovery, meaning-making, and rebuilding a sense of self after abuse
survivor agency, voice, and choice in how stories are told
ethical, trauma-informed approaches to media reporting and public discussion
advocating for accountability, learning, and systemic change rather than sensationalism
I do not share graphic detail, speculate on legal matters, or speak beyond my own lived experience and professional scope. Any engagement in this area prioritises dignity, respect, and the emotional safety of survivors.
Boundaries and Ethics
I am intentional about when and how I speak publicly about lived experience. I will always prioritise survivor safety, informed consent, and ethical boundaries, and I reserve the right to decline media requests that do not align with these principles.
My role as a therapist means I am particularly mindful of the distinction between advocacy, commentary, and clinical work. My therapeutic services are not a space for public storytelling, and this separation is maintained clearly and consistently.
Barrister Bruce Drummond told the press conference it is "one of the worst cases of corporate sexual exploitation" that he and "perhaps the world has ever seen".
The billionaire was described as a "monster enabled by a system that pervaded Harrods" by lawyers representing 37 alleged victims of sexual abuse at a press conference in London.
Dean Armstrong KC said the case "combines some of the most horrific elements" of those including Jimmy Savile, Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein.

I speak publicly at this point in my life because survivor voices matter in shaping safer systems, more responsible reporting, and meaningful accountability.
My hope is that thoughtful, boundaried contribution can support wider understanding while respecting the complexity and individuality of survivor experiences.
